For those stormy nights, why not settle in with a creepy thriller? Alex North\u2019s \u201cThe Whisper Man<\/a>\u201d (FIC Nor) is a psychological thriller about a father and son who move to a small town with a dark legacy of a serial killer. Dathan Auerbach\u2019s \u201cPenpal<\/a>\u201d (FIC Auerbach) is a chilling story that unfolds through a series of unsettling memories. As the protagonist examines his past, he uncovers a terrifying connection between seemingly unrelated occurrences.<\/p>

If you prefer something a little cozier, Richard Osman\u2019s \u201cThe Thursday Murder Club<\/a>\u201d (FIC Osm) is a witty and charming mystery about four retired friends who meet weekly to solve cold cases. When a real murder occurs near their retirement village, they find themselves unexpectedly involved in an exciting investigation. Mia P. Manansala\u2019s \u201cArsenic and Adobo<\/a>\u201d (FIC Manansala Tita v.1) is a cozy mystery centered around Lila, who returns to her family\u2019s Filipino restaurant and gets caught up in a murder investigation when her ex-boyfriend is found dead. What follows is a story full of culinary creations, family drama, and humor.<\/p>

For the fantasy readers, V.E. Schwab\u2019s \u201cA Darker Shade of Magic<\/a>\u201d (FIC Sch) is a fantasy novel set in a world with parallel Londons, each with its own level of magical power. The story follows a magician who can travel between these worlds, as he gets caught in a dangerous web of magic and betrayal. Sarah Maas\u2019 \u201cHouse of Earth and Blood<\/a>\u201d (FIC Maa) is a novel with a world of dangerous creatures and hidden power. The half-Fae main character teams up with a fallen angel on a quest for justice that uncovers dark secrets threatening her city.<\/p>

If you want a comforting classic to curl up with, we have several! Jane Austen\u2019s \u201cPride and Prejudice<\/a>\u201d (FIC Austen) explores the complex relationship between Elizabeth Bennet and the wealthy Mr. Darcy, examining themes of love, class, and social expectations. Charlotte Bronte\u2019s \u201cJane Eyre<\/a>\u201d (FIC Bro) is a gothic novel about an orphan who becomes a governess at the mysterious Thornfield Hall, where she discovers dark secrets while searching for equality and freedom. Margaret Mitchell\u2019s \u201cGone with the Wind<\/a>\u201d is a historical novel set during the American Civil War and Reconstruction, following the strong-willed Scarlett O’Hara as she deals with love, loss, and survival in the changing South.<\/p>
