As the season of twinkling lights and cozy evenings approaches, the library is welcoming winter with festive displays filled with heartwarming stories, creative craft guides, inspiring cookbooks, and cheerful holiday films. Whether you enjoy a lazy night in or something a little more hands-on, our holiday displays on the second floor offer something for everyone.<\/p>

Our Holiday Reads display features a variety of stories perfect for curling up with on a cold evening. \u201cDashing Through the Snowbirds<\/a>\u201d (FIC Andrews Meg v.32) by Donna Andrews offers a lighthearted mystery set against a seasonal backdrop. Readers looking for a holiday romance may enjoy Sarah Monzon\u2019s \u201cAll\u2019s Fair in Love and Christmas<\/a>\u201d (FIC Monzon), a charming story about finding connection during the busiest time of year. Those seeking inspirational tales might like \u201cFinding Noel<\/a>\u201d by Richard Paul Evans (FIC Eva), a story centered on hope and rediscovery, or \u201cThe Christmas Quilt<\/a>\u201d by Vannetta Chapman (FIC Cha), which follows a close-knit community preparing for the season.<\/p>

Along with the holiday fiction are nonfiction titles for anyone eager to craft or bake their own holiday cheer. Susan Waggoner\u2019s \u201cHandcrafted Christmas<\/a>\u201d (745.59412 Wag) offers vintage-inspired projects that add a personal touch to seasonal decorating. \u201cQuick and Easy Christmas: 100 Gifts and Decorations<\/a>\u201d (745.59412 One) provides craft ideas that are simple and fun. Looking for something creative to do in the kitchen? Gooseberry Patch\u2019s \u201cChristmas Cookies<\/a>\u201d (641.5686 Chr) is a festive cookbook offering a large collection of recipes for Christmas-time cookies, bars, candies, and holiday treats, along with how to package the goodies for gifts.<\/p>

Our Holiday Movies display offers a mix of humor, sentiment, and family friendly films. \u201cA Madea Christmas<\/a>\u201d (DVD FIC Mad) delivers a comedy filled with lively character interactions and holiday spirit. \u201cSurviving Christmas<\/a>\u201d (DVD FIC Sur) follows a man who seeks a little comfort during the season in unusual ways. Fans of classic holiday humor will enjoy \u201cChristmas with the Kranks<\/a>\u201d (DVD FIC Chr), a story about a couple whose unconventional plans take an unexpected turn. Looking for a heartfelt story? \u201cFinding Father Christmas<\/a>\u201d (DVD FIC Fin) is a Hallmark Channel movie about searching for connection during the holidays.<\/p>

Along with the library\u2019s festive holiday displays, there is another cozy winter offering to explore. Our annual Winter Reading Program begins Monday, December 29 and welcomes participants of all ages. Adults will be able to sign up for the Winter Reading Bingo online at cdpl.beanstack.com<\/a> or pick up a paper copy on the second floor. Children and teens will visit the Youth Services desk to get started with their challenges.
