Want to take home a library book and keep it forever? You don’t have to dodge the late return reminders – seriously, please don’t do that. In addition to our usual smorgasbord of books and movies that are free to borrow (and promptly return), we have several ways for you to get free and cheap books for your personal collection.

The second Saturday of every month is our Library Book Sale! From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., our volunteers open up the big book sale room in the basement for you to peruse. These offerings are donations and cast-offs from the main library collection. Much as we’d like to keep every book we get our hands on, our library has limited space. As we acquire new books, we remove those that are no longer relevant to our patrons’ needs and send them downstairs. The book sale also welcomes donations of clean, gently-used materials.

These books (and more!) are available for extraordinarily low prices of the kind you’d find at your average garage sale. All proceeds directly benefit the library, allowing us to host more fun and educational programs for the whole community.

“New books?” you may ask. “Fun programs? How can I find out more?” You can sign up for our weekly Wowbrary newsletter!

You might’ve missed the last Book Sale of 2024, but our Book Sale will continue in 2025. Plus, there are more options! Immediately to your right as you come in the front door, we have a small selection of book sale items available for free! Take anything you like, any time the library is open.

We also have a paperback exchange! Right next to the free books, there is a tall, rotating display full of all kinds of paperback books. Drop off your unwanted books from home at the Circulation Desk, and you can take the same amount off the display. It’s a bit of a vicious cycle if you’re trying to clear up shelf space, but it’s a wonderful way to find new things to read.

Complete our Summer, Winter, or year-round Display Reading Challenges to earn prize books. These are the créme de la créme of donated books: mint-condition hardcovers of new and popular titles that we’ve only set aside because the library owns a copy already. If you covet the titles on our very shiny (very heavy – ask for help) prize cart, you’ll have to work for it. Our Winter Reading Program is currently running until January 30th. Sign up today!

Intrepid patrons may also find golden tickets hidden throughout the building any time of year. Browse around, take your time, and you’ll be sure to find a reward. Then, claim your prize at the second floor Adult Services Desk!

Check out what’s happening on our website’s calendar or call us at 765-362-2242. The library is open Monday-Thursday 9a-9p, Friday-Saturday 9a-5p, and Sunday 1-5p.
