Susanna Howard
Susanna is a Library Assistant in the Adult Services Department at CDPL.
The library offers a lot of resources, but some things are simply outside of our ability to provide. That being said, even if we can’t help you, we probably know someone who can!
We can help you print legal forms from indianalegalhelp.org, but we cannot offer legal advice. Since we’re not lawyers, we don’t know any better than you which forms are most appropriate for your situation. So, who can you ask?
The Wabash Volunteer Attorneys of Lafayette run a free civil legal clinic at our library from 10 am to 1 pm on the last Tuesday of every month. The clinic takes place in Rooms C and D in our lower level. You can attend in person, or remotely by phone or Zoom. Please register for an appointment at calendly.com/pbi-clinic/cdpl. Walk-ins are accepted as time permits.
During tax season, we provide free state and federal tax forms. Extra copies cost our usual rate of $0.10 per black-and-white page. The most used forms are readily available near the second floor Information Desk. You can browse and print any other tax forms you might need in our computer lab. The state forms are located on the official Indiana Department of Revenue website, and federal forms can be found on the official Internal Revenue Service website. You can also request specific forms by name at the Information Desk, but you must know exactly which form you want. We cannot tell you which forms to use or give you tax advice, but we have information on who can.
United Way of Montgomery County offers free tax help to low-income households. You can file your taxes using the free resources on their website uwmontgomery.org/mytaxes or schedule an appointment for assistance. United Way is located on the second floor of the First Financial Bank and their phone number is 765-362-5484. Appointments are offered through April 11th, with office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm and Fridays from 9:30 am to noon.
At the library, we can direct you to several other community services, too. Make an appointment with our Resource Navigator. A certified recovery specialist from InWell (Integrated Wellness LLC) will connect you with local resources, including food, clothing, healthcare, housing, & treatment. Help is available every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 am to 2 pm in the library’s lower-level Conference Room. Walk-ins are welcome as availability permits, but we encourage you to call 765-201-0250 to guarantee your spot.
Check out what’s happening on our website or call us at 765-362-2242. The library is open Monday-Thursday 9a-9p, Friday-Saturday 9a-5p, and Sunday 1-5p.
