For so many people, their only main hobby outside work is watching television. Unlike hiking or pottery for example, you don’t need to put in any effort to be entertained. It can make starting a new hobby feel impossibly difficult in comparison, and even if you power through, nothing else will feel as instantly rewarding. It’s understandable to be exhausted in the world today, but that does not mean it’s your only option. Let these tie-in books from your favorite TV shows ease you back into reading.

Learn something new about something nostalgic with Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood: A Visual History by Melissa Wagner (302.23 Wag). Hear stories straight from the stars with Bond on Bond: Reflections on 50 Years of James Bond movies by Roger Moore (791.43 Moo) and Psycho: Behind the Scenes of the Classic Thriller by Janet Leigh (791.4372 Lei). We also have hundreds of biographies on our shelves, including biographies of famous actors, such as Always Look on the Bright Side of Life: A Sortabiography by Eric Idle of Monty Python fame (921 Idle, E.).

Companion books bridge all sorts of genres, so you’re sure to find something you’ll like. Kermit the Frog offers advice in Before You Leap: A Frog’s-eye View of Life’s Greatest Lessons (158.1 Ker). Heat Wave (Fic Cas) is the first in a seven-book murder mystery series “written” by a character from the TV show Castle. If The Good Place got you worried about ethics, try How to be Perfect: The Correct Answer to Every Moral Question by creator Michael Schur (818.602 Sch).

Are you feeling inspired? Take one step further with Unofficial “Hocus Pocus” Cross-Stitch: 25 Patterns and Designs for Works of Art You Can Make Yourself for Year-Round Halloween Decor (746.443 Uno). Feeling hungry? We have tons of cookbooks to improve your TV dinners, such as Cook Anime: Eat Like Your Favorite Character–from Bento to Yakisoba by Diana Ault (641.5952 Aul) and Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives: An All-American Road Trip … with Recipes! (647.9573 Fie).

This is just a small sample of what’s on offer. If you can’t find anything you like among the novelizations, art books, scores, and more, ask a librarian for recommendations. Reading should never feel like a chore or an obligation. Let us help you find something to love!
