I’m not usually a big fan of romance books, but this book is what got me started reading them. It’s a very cute & wholesome YA romance novel. It features a misaddressed email, a movie star, and a pig.

This book reminded me of The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls – which is also a true story of parents who abuse their children. Although this book was mentally and physically painful to read at times – you will want to jump in the story and rescue the 3 sisters from their sadistic mother.

Readers are treated to many behind-the-scenes details and insights, along with family photographs.

How to Break Up With Your Phone by Catherine Price
Like almost everyone I know I love my devices, and often turn to them for what I THINK is entertainment, knowledge and connection…but after reading Catherine Price’s other book The Power of Fun (155.4 Pri), I’ve been prompted to reevaluate this mindset. In her later book, Price identifies our devices, especially our phones, as a poor substitute for meaningful connections and moments in our lives. In fact, our devices (and the algorithms that are embedded in their apps) can alter our attention span, the way we process and retain information, and our ability to have authentic interactions with one another. Over time, they can even subtly change our behavior. I’ve put this book on my to-read list because I want to revisit my relationship with my phone and take control of how, when and why I use it.
