Summer Reading is in full swing at the Crawfordsville District Public Library! The “Color Our World” Summer Reading Challenge for adults is now available through July 8.

We have a great display of books on the second floor for your summer reading challenge needs! While you can read anything you want for the challenge, choosing and reading a book from our display will earn you an extra raffle ticket for the grand prize, which includes a new Samsung Galaxy tablet and a prize bag filled with art supplies and library swag! The “Color Our World” challenge can be completed online through Beanstack. Visit the site or download the free Beanstack app to begin. Prefer paper? Stop by the second floor and pick up a paper copy of the challenge anytime during our open hours. Challenge yourself to read this summer and see how far you can get!

We’d like to tell you about a few great examples of books on the “Color Our World” Summer Reading display. First up is “The Secret Language of Color,” by Joann Eckstut and Arielle Eckstut (535.6 Eck). This book explores all the colors of the rainbow and how they relate to science, nature, history, and culture. Not only is this book a fascinating read, but it is chock-full of gorgeous pictures illustrating color in all the facets of our world.

Next is “Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear,” by Elizabeth Gilbert (153.3 Gil). This is another great book from a prolific New York Times best-selling author. Do you want to live a more creative life, but you’re not sure where to start or where to find inspiration? This is the book for you! Ms. Gilbert discusses the attitudes, approaches, and habits we need in order to live our most creative lives.

We have several fiction titles on display, too, that explore art, color, and creativity. “All the Colors of the Dark,” by Chris Whitaker (FIC Whitaker), for example, is set in 1975 in small town in Missouri, where girls start mysteriously disappearing. This book is not only a missing person mystery, a serial killer thriller, and a love story, but also explores the power of art.

Find these titles and several more on display at the library until July 8. We look forward to assisting you on the second floor soon!
