It’s beginning to look a lot like. . . winter! We invite you to participate in our annual winter reading program for all ages at Crawfordsville District Public Library. It begins on Monday, December 29, 2025, and runs through Saturday, January 31, 2026. During the cold days of January (and a few in December) you can read at home and earn prizes.

Starting with our smallest patrons (up to age 10): the children will be coloring snowmen. Children can receive a reading chart at the Youth Services Desk and read for a specific amount of time for each snowman and then color the snowman on the front. Once all the snowmen have been colored, they will have a festive snowman picture and can return to the library for a fun prize and a book to keep.

Moving up to our tween and teen patrons (ages 11-18): this age group will be doing a duck hunt. The student will receive a reading chart with ducks. They will read a specific number of minutes for each duck and color it. When they have colored all the ducks they can return to the library for a prize and a book to keep.

Now for our adult readers (ages 18 and up): the theme this year is “Dream Away the Cold.” This Bingo-style challenge encourages you to snuggle up with a few good books and give yourself some self-care this winter. Sound fabulous? The challenge can be completed online by downloading the free Beanstack app or going to cdpl.beanstack.com. If you prefer paper, we have a version for you, too. Visit the second floor of the library to pick up a paper copy. We will also have book displays, activity sheets, bookmarks, and buttons featuring our winter theme! Come stock up with what you need to complete the challenge. If you get one Bingo, you will earn a free prize book. If you complete the entire sheet, you will also be entered to win a goodie bag of prizes, including one of our staff-designed “Dream Away the Cold” T-shirts.

We look forward to reading with you this winter. Please be aware that the library has reduced hours this season and is open Monday through Thursday 10 am to 8 pm, Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday 1 pm to 5 pm. We are currently closed on Fridays.
